Vote no on Auburn school project

Once again the Auburn school board is asking the taxpayers to vote on a $17 million project for upgrades to several area schools as well as Holland Stadium. The voting will be held 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 1, 2009, at Seward Elementary School, located at 52 Metcalf Ave., Auburn. A few years ago they tried to get approval on artificial turf for Holland Stadium, which the voters rejected so now they are submitting a $17 million project for taxpayer approval or rejection.

City's rules, taxes too much to bear

What's next, city manager? What I'm about to say I'm sure a lot of people will agree with. I will start with the new rules for leaf pickup. All leaves have to be bagged by the owner of a property, whether they came from the city's tree or their own tree. Wow! First you can't do anything to a tree owned by the city as far as cutting it, trimming it, etc. But when the leaves from their tree makes a mess out of your lawn and you rake them to the curb, they won't even pick them up anymore because it's too expensive now.

School project, tax hike too costly

The Auburn school administration is doing everything in its power to ram this latest proposal down the throats of the school taxpayers. They are limiting the voting to only one location.

I broke the law by burning leaves

Well, I got a personal visit from the DEC last week. For the first time in 45 years of living there I got caught burning leaves. Not by the DEC but by someone who turned me in anonymously. I guess they needed to go to bed that night knowing they had done something right that day. Seems the law was passed Oct. 14, 2009. Just another law by our confused government; like my little fire is going to destroy this earth. I do tend to my fires so they won't spread. Those of you who travel to Syracuse every day, if you can, lift your eyes off your texting and look at the sky across the city: what do you see?
