A bankruptcy court judge has approved an extension of the deadline Auburn Memorial Hospital had been facing to file its Chapter 11 reorganization plan and solicit acceptances of that plan from creditors.
The approval came at a hearing Thursday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Syracuse, according to court records.
Citing the complexity of the case, AMH was seeking to extend the period under which it is the only party that can submit a reorganization proposal and seek approvals for it. Based on the timing of AMH's original bankruptcy filing in April, the hospital was facing an Aug. 22 expiration of that exclusivity period.
It is not uncommon in large cases for those debtors to seek such extensions.
AMH was asking for a Dec. 20 deadline to file its plan and a Feb. 18 deadline for soliciting support from creditors, who ultimately vote on a proposed plan.
