City employee Michael Long will soon be saying good-bye to Auburn.
The director of capital projects and grants has been appointed to the position of city administrator in Poughkeepsie.
The Poughkeepsie mayor's office confirmed Wednesday that the city's common council approved Long's appointment Monday in a unanimous vote.
Long begins his new job June 16. Much like Auburn's city manager, the city administrator in Poughkeepsie runs the day-to-day operations at city hall.
Long has worked in Auburn for 27 years, and he served as Auburn's interim city manager for about five months in 2006 and 2007.
However, he grew up in Poughkeepsie and has family in the area.
