Bonca's opening stalled

Bonca's Restaurant is getting ready to open, but the owners want to be sure that all their ducks are in a row.
“There are still a half dozen things that need to be corrected,” partner Gregory Rigby said. He said that the Health Department went through and found nothing to prevent the restaurant from opening from their perspective.

But Sennett Code Enforcement Officer Paul Wieman went through the site on Thursday and found a half dozen things that needed to be corrected, according to Rigby.

“There are two issues related to the building code,” Rigby said. “I'm going to put the proposal of the remedy in front of him,” he said, after consulting with an architect and builder in order to prepare his plan.

He stressed his concern for the customers' and employees' safety, and that one of the issues was electrical.

“We thought we were all set,” Rigby said, “but he found something.”

The partners plan to open the business as soon as they get approved.

“I have no idea when we're going to open. We don't want anybody hurt,” he said, referring to safety issues.

Bonca's has already hired a number of people who have been put through a training session on the computer and cash register system.

" In my last comment I might have been a bit angry, and over reacted just a little bit. For that I am sorry. The only point I am trying to make is that Boncas will be a great venue for the Town of Sennett, and you would think that they would want it to open. I understand that there are certain codes that have to be enforced; Lord only knows I have had to deal with codes, permits, and labor laws, having contracting experiance.
I have trianed at Boncas and they are nothin but respectable people that only want to bring a new option for family dinning, which I think wee all need! Again I am sorry if I offended anyone on my last comment. "

" I am an employee at Bonca's... I feel as though Sennett needs to stop fooling around and get there stuff together. My personal opinion is not to high for that town. Bonca's will make a great addition to the town and they need to juss let the place open. I need a paycheck! Do you think Sennett cares about that? I DONT! "

" You would think that the town of Sennett has had enough! Ten's of thousands in legal expenses, especially suing themselves.

Now they keep the door closed while they let the Skaneateles Suites open a commercial property next door on the old Whipple site that they spent unknown $$$$
to maintain a residential site.

The Suites will be the next Pioneer- another Sennett screw up- they let things go on then wake up when it is to late!!!!!! "
