BIG FLATS -- An upstate New York firefighter is dead after the small fire truck he was driving crashed less than two miles from his firehouse.
Ryan Barker was returning from a call in the town of Big Flats when the truck he was driving overturned rounding a curve Tuesday evening.
The 25-year-old Elmira man was a firefighter with the West Hill Volunteer Fire Department. He was taken to an Elmira hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Chemung County Sheriff's office says Barker was the only person in the tanker truck and the accident remains under investigation.
