Throop water boil order removed

The Cayuga County Health Department has lifted the boil water order that had been in place since Tuesday night for users in the town of Throop Water District No. 1.
Residents can resume using tap water as normal. The order removal comes as a result of two days of satisfactory water system tests for bacteria.

The order was put in as a precautionary measure following a water line break. The health department said the repair work on the line made it possible for contaminants to enter the system, so tests had to be conducted in order to ensure the water was safe.

For more information, call the town of Throop at 252-7373 or the Cayuga County Health Department at 253-1405.
