A motorcycle accident early Friday morning in Cato took the life of a Syracuse man, according to state police.
Christopher R. Hanlon, 38, died Friday when he and his motorcycle struck a sign post along Emerson Road in Cato.
According to a news release from the state police, Hanlon lost control of his 1993 Harley Davidson motorcycle northwest on Emerson Road just past Town Line Road when he crested a hill, sliding off the south shoulder of the roadway. He suffered a fatal injury when he struck the sign post.
Hanlon, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The Weedsport Fire Department and ambulance service assisted at the scene.
