A new Web site will allow New Yorkers to find out how state and local government spends money and awards contracts.
The Empire Center for New York State Policy, part of the fiscally conservative Manhattan Institute think tank, is unveiling www.SeeThroughNY.net Thursday afternoon.

E.J. McMahon, director of the center, says the site offers databases for the entire payroll of more than 200,000 state government employees.

New Yorkers can also learn about teacher union and school superintendent contracts for nearly all of the state's 733 school and BOCES districts.

The site will also follow the operating expenditures of individual lawmakers and allow the public to view politicians' pork-barrel spending.
