We're in a recession; gas is over $4/gal, unemployment rate over 5 percent and getting worse; the county is projecting tax increases (again) - which will be on top of the AECSD's tax increases) and now we get another kick in the teeth: The local organization of community leaders, known as “A Call to Action: A Blueprint For Our Region's Future,” have pulled on offer to front $500,000 for a proposed “first-stop” development agency that would serve the entire county.

On the evening of July 22 (at 9 p.m. and still light out), a dark-colored vehicle hit my dog and never stopped. This person never even applied their brakes, they simply hit a 70-pound white dog on West Lake Road in the Town of Fleming.

When we first offered our Blueprint for the Region's Future in January 2007, we envisioned it as an outline, like a set of plans, which once in a builder's hands, could reconstruct the way our community does business for the better.
