A brutal car accident in Conquest left one man dead and another individual hospitalized over the weekend, officials said.
A spokesman for the New York State Police said a man lost control of his car and struck two trees as he traveled east on Bush Hill Road at 1 a.m. Saturday.
The force of the impact ripped the car in half, killing the driver after he was ejected from the vehicle.
Cayuga County Coroner James Dolan confirmed that the driver was William A. Weigand, 26, of Mottville.
An unidentified passenger was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with head injuries. State police would not release additional details about the accident.
Weigand, who was described as a motocross enthusiast, had been employed at KEM Enterprises in Skaneateles Falls, according to an obituary published Monday.
