MISS: To the unexpected death of Terri Bridenbecker, the Cayuga County Chamber of Commerce executive director.
Bridenbecker was a true friend not only to the Cayuga County business world, but to the entire community. So much of her effort focused on promoting all that is wonderful about living in this area and in that regard her work will have a lasting impact.
Bridenbecker did so much to help the chamber grow and change with the times and it is an organization that will continue to flourish because of that.
As one of the hundreds of local businesses that have been blessed to work with her, The Citizen offers heartfelt condolences to the Bridenbecker family.
HIT: To the Cayuga-Owasco Lakes Historical Society's celebration of former President Millard Fillmore's 209th birthday.
The organization does tremendous work promoting the legacy of Fillmore, the only U.S. president who was born in Cayuga County. Events like these go a long way toward helping the society achieve the goal of educating the public about his life.
We encourage more people to take a look at the society's history house in Moravia, where a Fillmore exhibit is on display.
MISS: To the Oswego County house fire that took the lives of eight people early Sunday morning.
Tragedy on such a scale is devastating to any community, but especially in a place as small and close-knit as the town of Richland.
HIT: To Holy Family Church in Auburn, which is celebrating its 175th anniversary this year.
The church recently kicked off a year's worth of special events and programs to mark this milestone. It will all culminate with a Mass in September in which Diocese of Rochester Bishop Matthew Clark will preside.
It's a wonderful time for a church that has always been a tremendous asset for the city and beyond.
