LeRon Agee led the Auburn boys basketball team to its sixth straight win on Thursday, with a 19 point, 10 rebound performance in the Maroons 70-56 win over Ithaca.
“He came up absolutely huge for us tonight,” Auburn coach Al Gianonne said of his senior.
Auburn led 37-23 at the half and never looked back.
Malcolm Bryant racked up 13 points, Nick Granato scored 12, while Julaun Richardson came away with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Kenny Byrd scored 10 and tallied seven assists.
“We're playing really well right now,” Giannone said.
“At times we lost some focus defensively, but when we're playing hard and fast, we can play with anybody.”
The Maroons (6-3) head to Baldwinsville, whom they beat to win the East Syracuse-Minoa Holiday Tournament earlier this season, on Tuesday.
WRESTLING
Southern Cayuga 49, Marathon 10
For the Chiefs, Teddy Alnutt earned with a major decision in the 145-pound weight class by a score of 16-4.
Jeremy Marsh (160) won by a pin in 3:32, while Ryan Barta (171) also pinned his opponent in 3:20.
Freshman Cody Reeves (189) won by a 13-7 decision.
“I was very impressed with his performance tonight,” Chiefs coach Aaron Brozon said.
Jake Quill (103), Devan Barta (119), Ryan Gill (125), Louis Quill (135) and Griffon Farlow (152) each won by forfeit.
Southern Cayuga travels to Watkins Glen, today.
SWIMMING
Lansing 64, Southern Cayuga 27
Gavin Luderman, Phil Littlejohn. Allen Wikstrom and Jimmy Weber came in first in the 400 freestyle relay (4:40.90). Weber came in second in the 50 freestyle (25.57) and the 100 butterfly (1:12.13).
Thomas Fessenden placed second in the 500 freestyle (6:19.51) and 100 breaststroke (1:19.57), while Wikstrom earned second in the 100 backstroke (1:12.42).
Southern Cayuga (0-7) travels to Waverly, Tuesday.
