EAST ROCHESTER — An Amtrak passenger train heading to Albany has struck and killed a pedestrian in a Rochester suburb.
Police say the unidentified victim was killed while crossing the tracks in East Rochester on Thursday morning.
At least eight people have died on the railroad tracks in the Rochester village since 1991.
The circumstances of the accident were not immediately clear, but authorities say there appeared to be no equipment problems related to the train crossing.
The train, carrying about 75 people, was traveling east from Rochester to New York’s capital.
