SYRACUSE -- Police have a suspect in a double slaying in a Syracuse park on New Year's Eve.
Police on Saturday arrested 28-year-old John Gilchrist of Syracuse, who they say has been a suspect since the investigation began. He's charged with two counts of second-degree murder.
Investigators believe Gilchrist shot and killed 24-year-old Jodie Cohens and his 25-year-old cousin William Fowler in retaliation for being sold thousands of dollars worth of fake cocaine.
Cohens was found dead in the driver's seat of a rented 2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Fowler was found in the road and died shortly after arriving at a hospital.
Deputy Police Chief Michael Kerwin says more arrests are likely.
