Inauguration an example of wasteful spending

Sunday, January 11, 2009 11:22 PM EST

So if we are so desperate in this country to have our finances set right why then are the folks in Washington spending so much money on the inauguration of the new president? Here's a thought, let's just have a small ceremony no glitz and glamour and wasteful spending and get the new president in office to start work! Let's put all that money that would have been spent and put it back into our budget. Just a thought. Barack talks a good game but let's see him walk the walk and stop foolish spending.

" The result of the inaugaration is that the country gets a chance to feel good about itself and what the electoral process can do. The price is worth it if the nation feels a little more confident and people get the feeling that better days are ahead. Stop being so petty and join this country in hope for a better future! "

" Every President has had his day, let Obama have his. If we can spend all this money on a failed stimulus plan, and a financial bailout where we really don't know where the money went, the inauguration is small potatoes. What is going to be spent in the near future is what should really scare us. "

" Where were the complaints when GWB spent money on his while ignoring the young people he sent to fight his trumped up war in Iraq? There are many people in this country that would like to celebrate the occasion, proud that for the first time in 8 years we have an intelligent President to represent our country. "

" Exactly! How economical is having TEN fancy balls to attend? How many gowns will the new first lady be changing into? At who's cost? "
