University Hospital confirmed that Taylor Denson, a 12-year-old Auburn girl critically injured on Saturday afternoon in a sledding accident at Westcott Reservoir in Syracuse, died on Tuesday.
Auburn Enlarged School District Superintendent JD Pabis announced Denson's passing during the weekly school board meeting Tuesday night.
"We are saddened by the loss of Taylor Denson," he said. "However, her death was not in vain. During the last hours of her life there was a request that she have a positive affect on others."
Pabis said Denson's organs will be donated to help others.
"Undoubtedly she will live on in the lives she has helped and this act of kindness will be a positive memory for her family and the Auburn community," Pabis said.
Denson was using a snow tube to slide down the hill when she crashed head first into a Hyundai Sonata at the bottom at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
