GREECE -- Authorities say a robbery suspect has died after being shot by an off-duty Rochester police officer in a suburban shopping plaza.
Police in the town of Greece say two men confronted two women outside the Elite Spa Monday night and demanded money, with one of the men then pistol-whipping one of the women. Authorities say the off-duty officer was in the parking lot, saw the attack and confronted the men.
Officials say the officer opened fire after one of the men refused to drop his weapon. The armed man was wounded but managed to flee along with the other man.
The wounded suspect turned up at a Rochester hospital, then was transferred to another hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The other suspect was later tracked down and arrested.

If your life less valuable than an off-duty cop's life? Rochester appears to think so. "
