The state is reminding residents visiting any of the Finger Lakes region state parks Memorial Day weekend to leave their swimming suits at home.
Tim Joseph, regional director for the Finger Lake's State Parks, said in a press release that swimming will not open until most schools close for the summer on June 20, a decision made as a result of the financial crisis. The changes were first announced earlier this spring.
Traditionally, Memorial Day weekend had been the opening day for swimming at state parks.
At Seneca Lake and Long Point state parks, swimming will be available on weekends and holidays only, throughout the summer. The spray park at Seneca Lake will be open daily.
"By concentrating the changes in the shoulder seasons and in off-peak times, we hope to minimize the impact on our patrons," Joseph said.

* Taughannock Falls State Park: Camping will open one month late (April 24). The winter sledding area will be closed.
