An Auburn High School student was arrested and charged with a felony Friday after police said he made a false bomb threat at the school.
According to the Auburn Police Department, a secretary at AHS received a telephone call on May 6 indicating that there was a bomb in the school.

The call, police said, allegedly was made through a telephone relay service for hearing-impaired individuals.

School and police officials conducted a threat assessment that day and determined no evacuation was necessary, according to an APD release.

The school office had received multiple, non-threatening prank calls through the relay service during the day before the threat, detectives stated.

An investigation by school resource officers revealed that the alleged threat was made on a school computer, using the relay service Web site.

After investigators traced the computer to a specific classroom, they identified an 18-year-old student.

Detectives said the student allegedly admitted to making the threat after being questioned.

Shawn Parsons, of Auburn, was arrested and arraigned at Auburn City Court.

Parsons has been charged with one felony count of first-degree falsely reporting an incident and was committed to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of bail.

Auburn police officials said this arrest is not related to an investigation into reported bomb threats that occurred April 30 and May 8 at Owasco Elementary.

In those incidents, authorities say threatening messages were made against the school, though there were no evacuations.

" Kids have been getting in trouble for generations. We have already been over all the activities in Auburn for kids. If you're scared of the mean streets of Auburn then you are a wimp. The only dead zone in Auburn is the one hanging over your head. Take some Prozac and cheer up or leave the dead zone. Take a course in english literacy. "
