AUBURN -- Two brothers pleaded guilty in Cayuga County Court Thursday to burglarizing an Auburn business and toll booth last fall.
Steven Pyne, 26, and Michael Pyne, 24, both of 7 Grover St., apartment 2, Auburn, admitted they both broke into a Frosted Nickel storage container on 28 Clark St. in order to steal empty cans and bottles on Sept. 23. Those items were later recycled at Wegmans.
The brothers also admitted they burglarized an Auburn city parking tollbooth that same day, stealing cash and CDs.
The older brother said he acted as a lookout while his younger brother stole the items in both burglaries.
Steven Pyne, who was convicted of second-degree felony sexual abuse and was designated a level III sex offender in Oswego County in 2001, also pleaded guilty to failing to report his address every 90 days to local law enforcement agencies.
Level III sex offenders are deemed to have a high risk of re-offending.
In exchange for pleading guilty to two counts of third-degree burglary, both brothers were promised 2.5 to 5 years in prison when they are sentenced on July 23.
