There were a couple of twists in the Cayuga County Democratic Party's fall election endorsements that saw a new face emerge and an incumbent decide to not to run in the fall.
Katie Lacey, Democratic Party chair, announced the following choices on Wednesday night:
For Auburn City Council, the Democrats are backing incumbent William Graney and a first-time candidate, Jack Hardy.
Incumbent Cayuga County Legislator Daniel Schuster, of District 13, decided not to run for personal reasons, so the committee will meet again Wednesday, June 17, according to Lacey.
“We wanted to give people the opportunity to come forward,” she said.
Former Auburn mayor Tim Lattimore was the Republican Party's choice to run for the seat
The party also endorsed Steve Barski, of Dayton Street in Auburn, for County Legislative District 11 and incumbent Cynthia Aikman in District 15.
No one came forward for the position of Cayuga County treasurer.
Most of the town committees will meet within the week, Lacey said.

Liklihood of winning due to name recognition is too commonplace when it comes to seeking out the best person for the job.
The only "idea" Tim ever had was to promote putting land into trust for a tribe to circumvent local laws. "
