NEW YORK -- A New York congressman says in a YouTube video that Michael Jackson was a "pervert."
Rep. Peter King said society is "glorifying" a "low-life" while ignoring the efforts of teachers, police officers, firefighters, veterans and volunteers.

Jackson was acquitted of molesting a boy.

In the video, the congressman says the "day in and day out" coverage of Jackson's death is "too politically correct."

He conceded that Jackson "may have been a good singer" and "did some dancing."

King is among the possible Republican contenders for the seat held by Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.

" I agree with King! Bury the guy. He looked scary when he was alive. Get him into the ground soon! The family and his handlers need to stop thinking about money. This has turned into a circus not a memorial! "

" I'm torn on this one, to be honest. Rep. King is a long time backer of the IRA terrorists group, supporting their attacks against England.
But in this case, I think that he is correct. Michael Jackson was a pedophile, pervert and altogether mentally ill individual who should have been in prison for his actions instead of living at his Neverland estate.
And as far as his "music" was concerned, forget it.
Modern pop music and culture glorifies the worst of society and is without redeeming value.

Lastly, The Citizen as a CONSERVATIVE newspaper??? What a joke! "

" Rep. Peter King is neglecting the facts:
in his group of teachers, police officers, firefighters, veterans and volunteers there has been one or more that WERE CONVICTED for being "low-life"

so who is he glorifying? "

" Does anyone realize that SEVEN NOTEWORTHY PERSONALITY'S HAVE PASSED AWAY DURING THIS TIME FRAME, six did the right thing and buried their dead. They (Jackson family) went public, forced all major networks to carry the services Tuesday and finally will do the right thing, BURY THEIR LOVE ONE PRIVATELY. "

" All King is saying that a disappropriate amount of coverage is being given to Jackson when there are millions more who deserve some positive accolades. "

" An appeal to the knee-jerk fundamentalists won Finch his seat this time around -- why not a Congressman too? "

" I am amazed the ultra-conservative Citizen even had the Guts to run an article with derrogatory comments about another person, "pervert" or "low-life". Unless this article is somehow self-serving to them...

Go Post-Standard!!! "

" Peter King is a low-life and a pervert - trying to rape one of America's most important pop-culture icons. Why don't you spit on our forefathers while you're at it Peter?

MJ has done more to build international adoration for American culture than any recent Republican politician.

One person worthy of the name 'King' is MJ, 'the eternal King of Pop.' "

" What bothers me about this is My King believes the only people worthy of respect and recognition are those who are those who are not in the entertainment industry, have a little respect for our entertainers, they work hard as well. "
