A 9-year-old Auburn boy who ran a stop sign while riding his bike was airlifted to University Hospital after he was struck by a car Sunday night, the Auburn Police Department said.
Police said the boy was riding north on Westwood Drive when he failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck by a westbound vehicle on Clymer Street driven by an 18-year-old male at 8:15 p.m.
The boy may have suffered a broken leg as a result of the impact, police said. Additional details about his injuries or his condition were not immediately available.
No tickets are pending, as the child was required to yield the right-of-way, police said.

The uneducated mentality of 'trucks first' is not welcome in Auburn. All said - its a shame that the biker put himself at risk in this way. I see too many telephoning drivers in Auburn these days.
Syracuse is planning bike-lanes, can we beat them to the chase? Get creative road-painters! You did a great job near Hoopes Park! "

A broken leg will mend, if all goes well, and hopefully the child learned an important lesson about being careful when riding your bike in the road. It's not easy being a kid sometimes, and let's hope this one doesn't have to pay any higher a price for it than already.
Wishes for healing to both the boy and the driver, physical and emotional. "
