Youth Baseball: Orioles knock off Yankees

Ernest Stokes, Matthew Mosher, Gregory Baumes, Trenton Quinn and Clay Van Ostrand had four hits each as the Auburn Fire Department Orioles beat the Auburn Police Department Yankees 20-15 in an Auburn Boys and Girls League baseball game Monday.
Key Orioles hits came from Paige Lincoln, Bradley Lawrence, Jake Granato and Dakota Lupien, while Baumes and Quinn led the defense, with assists from Lincoln, Mosher, Stokes and Lawrence.

The Yankees' Kassandra Hunt, Luke Viggiano and Josh Steinbacher led the offense while Jacob Steinbacher and Derek Allen led the defense.

Tim's Powerwashing Inc. Indians 20, Red Sox 16

Nathan Nedza had four hits and Jacob Bryant scored four times to lead Tim's. The offense was also powered by Jacob Wawrzaszek, Josh Kowaleski, Taylor Chadderdon, Angelo Carter, Thomas Nedza, Ryan Stewart and Jacob Podfigurny. Defensively, they were led by Andrew Boglione, Ryan Stewart, Bryant and Nedza.

The Red Sox were led by Max Hayden, John LaDuca and Eric Kennedy with four hits apiece, while Kayla Mallory had three hits and played well in the field.

NYSCOBA Brewers 17, Vision Care Associates Athletics 16

Zach Dennis led the Brewers with three hits, while Jakob Borza, A.J. Williams, Conor Maassen, Tyler Cook, Jacob Sanders, Max Bergan and Olivia Maassen also had three hits each. Morgan Cook finished with two hits. Aaron Kowal and Cook led the defense. Dominic Jones and Williams also played well defensively.

Carly Dolan and Nathan Bellnier each had a team-high three hits. Mason Rivett finished with two hits. Noah Martin-Leon, Paul Sofinski and Trenyon Overstreet powered the defense.

LITTLE LEAGUE

Bouley's 4, Nucor 3

Skippy Fasce led Bouley's, allowing three hits and three runs in four innings of work in the first round of the playoffs. Nate Evangelista went 1 2-3 innings, giving up one hit, while Hunter Charles tossed 1-3 of an inning. Fasce, Hunter, Mike Charles and John Eldred led the offense.

Terry Daniels, Jack Hensel, Mike O'Hearn and Jordan Jackson each had hits for NUCOR, while O'Hearn and Adrian Lamotta pitched for Nucor.

Lil Giants 5, Casler 2

Brett Lowe led the Lil Giants with two singles, driving in all five runs in the first round of the playoffs. TJ Baranick went the distance, giving up only two runs of four hits. Tommy Herbert also had two hits and Kevin Merrill added a double.

Noah Christiantelli had two hits for Casler. Ally Nicolosi took the loss.

Auburn Correctional Facility 6, Auburn Police Department 4

Justin Valentino had a solo home run, while Kiernan Major tripled to lead the offense in the playoffs. Matt Faiola, Max Pinchak and Connor Siracusa split time on the mound. Teddy Herbert led ACF's defense.

Nick Covich, Jimmy Dranszak, Brandon Noga and Eddie Bauso all had hits for APD, while Nick Petrosino went the distance on the mound.

Auburn Police Department 7, Gush Orthodontics 3

Nick Covich tossed five innings, allowing a hit, while striking out nine and also having three hits offensively in the playoffs. Nick Petrosino, Austin Martinez and Jim Dranszak all had two hits and one double, while Joey Brewster had a double.

Connor Finizio led Gush with two hits, while Jack Burgmaster, Pat LaDouce and Josh Frost split time on the mound.

KIDS SANDLOT LEAGUE

Byrne Dairy 2, Mark's Pizzeria 1

Steve McCarthy pitched well and had two hits, Jeff Long doubled and Brady Jenner led the defense for Byrne. Mark's Steve Crisafulli pitched, Tony Feocco scored the run and Brandon Thibault played well defensively.

AMERICAN LEGION

S.K. Post 6, U.S. Post 5

Ryan LaRue hit a three-run home run and Ted Hart had a key two-run double in the sixth inning that proved to be the game-winner.

Hart (eight strikeout) also picked up the win in relief of Nick Berwind (six strikeouts).

Jared Bretherton and Dave Wilczek pitched for Union Springs, while Andy Klock played well in center field.

AUBURN BABE RUTH

Byrn's Trophy 5, Auburn Community Federal Credit Union 5

Kyle Breree led Byrn's with two hits and three RBIs as he drove in the tying run in the bottom of the sixth inning and scored the game-winning run. Mike Tarby had one hit and one RBI, while Paul Quinn had one hit. Matt Carberry also scored one run, while driving in another. Justin Fasce earned the win, while Joe DeAngelis picked up the save, striking out the side.

Joe Schillace led AFCU with two hits, including a double and two RBIs. Matt Moore and Nico Lupo each had one hit, while Anthony Murray had one hit and brought in a run. Liam Grzasko and Murray split time on the mound.

Auburn Federal Credit Union 12, Auburn Correctional Facility 7

Trevor Doan and Joe Schillace each had three hits to lead AFCU. Liam Grazko, Nico Lupo and Anthony Murray each had two hits, while Nick Bolak and Stephen Giannotta rounded out the hitting with one hit apiece. Doan also earned the win.

Mike Terry had two hits, while Jimmy Spinnelli and Dana Scarseletta each had one hit apiece.
