Referring to the gas grill that was stolen from Mercy Apartments: "How can anyone stoop so low to steal from senior citizens?" I guess it's either a low-income young person, another low-income senior citizen or a rich person who never gets enough.

Why don't psychiatrists and mental health workers leave people alone? Maybe it's not all that unusual considering how this country treated blacks, Indians and Japanese-Americans in the past.

I was in the USMC during peacetime, when there was nothing going on. USMC: United Society for Musical Culture. Uncle Sam's Misguided Children. How's that?

Feed the children: feed them free breakfast, free lunch, free afternoon programs -- free, free, give, give, give -- and the parents can use their social services money to buy fireworks and teach the kids to have fun, watch the fireworks, even though it's against the law. Great job Auburn --- especially on Orchard Street.

Finally DA Budelmann is being exposed for what he is. Cayuga County deserves better and I hope before he exposes us to further financial difficulties, we get rid of him.

Thanks cm!
Yesterday, we drove to Syracuse to pick up a couple of loaves of rye bread from Harrison's Bakery (#1, check). When we are staying in the Cortland area, we will get antipasto at the Hollywood, and wings and calzones at the Red Dragon. Those are the 3 foods we missed the most when we were out west. Oh, and we have to get some New Hope Mills pancake mix! We haven't had pancakes since last December when we ran out of the mix! "

cm: Locations of ships has always been at the very least Confidential classified information. The worst offenders for this kind of thing are these people who "leak" classified information to the newspapers. It is even admitted that the information was received through a leak. I have had access to classified information in past jobs and it used to be that if someone did such a thing they were disciplined in some manner - had their security clearance pulled or lost their job or both. If the offense was serious enough, they ended up in some place like Leavenworth. Now, they just treat it as business as usual. This sort of thing has nothing to do with "transparency" but has a lot to do with sabotage. "

" Sorry daydreamer, I didn't pay much attention to the czars, I found that Bush had some, but this guy has them and is taking over everything. The government should not own all this.

At least now someone is speaking up about the costs of health care reform.

"The director of the Congressional Budget Office issued a warning to Democrats Thursday that their health care proposals would raise costs, not lower them.

One day after a Senate panel approved its version of the health care reform plan, the first committee to do so, CBO Director Doug Elmendorf gave a dose of bad medicine to a separate committee.

Asked by Senate Finance Committee Chairman Kent Conrad, D-N.D., whether costs would be lowered -- also known as "bending the curve" -- Elmendorf responded: "The curve is being raised."

Subsidies to help uninsured people would raise federal health care spending, which is already growing at an unsustainable rate, Elmendorf explained at the hearing. The Medicare and Medicaid cuts that lawmakers have offered to pay for the coverage expansion aren't big enough to offset the cost trend, particularly in the long term, he said." "

I understand SOME 'things' for national security and public safety have to be kept under wraps.
reminds me of a happening: a couple years back, our 'stores' wanted to do for the troops. My hubby being ex-Navy looked up ships that we wanted to 'adopt' for the holidays. During the mist of the war it was amazing as to the info that was ONLINE, especially the ships EXACT location.
after several contacts, ending with the Commander of the 'battle group' and ship to shore phone contact, he was VERY ANGRY, that we, though meaning to bring joy, knew way too much about his mission!
The worst was his groups LOCATION!

after giving him details of what websites we had visited, he thanked us.
WITHIN hours, all information was removed. Pictures of the ships were online but with the ships numbers and names 'blurred out'

had this information been in the wrong hands, the whole battle group would had been in grave danger.

Some things need NOT be public info.

movedsouth's list SHOULD BE public info! "

" We hear so much about these "czars", that I looked up some information on them.

"Obama has currently appointed more than 20 czars. Apparently the cabinet members are not able to multitask because the president feels he needs more detailed advice.

What most people do not know is that a czar is appointed by the president, answers only to the president and is not accountable to either the Judicial or Legislative part of the government. If they are trotted out to Congress to testify, they will be able to invoke executive privilege and remain silent.

Many of Obama’s freshly-minted czars are managing multi-billion dollar budgets with no oversight. The taxpayer must trust that the czar and the president are looking out for their interests responsibly.

Here is a sampling of President Obama’s current czar list; drug czar, border czar, urban czar, regulatory czar, stimulus-accountability czar, TARP czar, faith czar, infotech czar, non-proliferation czar, Terrorism czar, Guantanamo-closure czar, Iran czar, Middle East czar, Afghanistan czar, Pakistan czar, bank-bailout czar, car czar, cyber-security czar, Great Lakes czar, health-care reform czar and finally a Special Master for Compensation Czar or pay czar.

Which brings up the question, how much do these czars make? That you would have to ask the White House and so far they are not letting anyone in on the taxpayer cost."

This scares me, is this TRANSPARENCY?
Answers only to Obama. "

Mental Health has needed to expand their present building since 1988. They moved the clinic from North Street to the basement of the old post office into an area that was already too cramped at that time. Mental Health was renting that space from the County (at a hefty price). The Office of Mental Health finally forced the county to release Mental Health from it's "lease" because of all the code violations. There will be continuity of services when the building expansion is completed. The present director of Mental Health had nothing to do with this; it was a vision of David Blair to take back the space 1-North occupied. "

re;Psychs and Mental Health Workers. Who exactly are they picking on?

re;USMC. The Navy's ground force. Hey, why do Marines blouse their pants?

Yes, and we dumb working slobs have "THE RIGHT" to pay for it all. The solution: ASSIMILATION.....Become one of them. "RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!"

" Interesting to read in the Post and NOT the Citizen that the Mental Health Center has laid off direct care workers, yet the word from the Office Building is they are spending millions on a new building and are hiring 2 positions worth 60K a pop, that have nothing to do with working directly with the mentally ill of this county? Sounds like this Kate O'Connell is not working toward whats in the best interest of the citizen of the County, but of course the Legislature loves her so maybe together they can get rid of that service as well as the nurses. When the mentally ill go untreated and end up in more expensive care settings it will be too late. Of course our County loves to put the cart in front of the horse, waste millions only to change things back. OBSCENE! "
