A wine produced by a Finger Lakes winery is this year's winner of the Governor's Cup -- the top prize handed out at the annual New York Wine and Food Classic organized by the New York Wine and Grape Foundation.

Keuka Spring Vineyards' 2012 Riesling won the cup, which recognizes the top wine in New York state. A Long Island winery, McCall Wines, received winery of the year honors.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the winners Tuesday night at a ceremony in Watkins Glen. The awards program was held after Cuomo embarked on a tour of three Finger Lakes wineries to highlight the state's tourism and wine industries

At Tuesday's ceremony, Cuomo also announced a new television ad campaign to promote New York's wine industry. The ad features quotes from wine critics praising the state's wines. (You can watch the ad below.)

"This promotional advertising campaign delivers on another promise made at the Wine, Beer, and Spirits summit where we pledged to help grow New York’s position as a global leader in wine production. New York’s wine industry supports thousands of jobs across the state and is an important partner to our agricultural and tourism industries," Cuomo said.

"Our promotional efforts – including this ad campaign as well as initiatives like Taste NY and special wine events – are putting New York’s wine products on a national and international stage. Our local wineries are producing truly world-class wines, and we want these businesses to thrive and people to enjoy a taste of New York. And today’s winner of the Governor’s Cup, Keuka Spring Vineyards, is a testament to the high quality wines that we have to offer."
