Senate leaders released the list of committee assignments Thursday and while there weren't a lot of surprises, there were a few changes.
One of the changes: State Sen. Michael Nozzolio, R-Fayette, will now chair the Senate Codes Committee.
"It is an honor for me to be given the opportunity to serve as chairman of the Codes Committee," Nozzolio said in a statement Friday. "I look forward to work with my colleagues on the committee to strengthen our state's criminal justice laws and to work to protect our communities from violent criminals."
Nozzolio previously chaired the Senate Crime Victims, Crime and Correction Committee. State Sen. Patrick Gallivan, R-Elma, is the committee's new chairman. Nozzolio will continue to serve as a member of the committee.
Nozzolio's other committee assignments: Elections; Finance; Housing, Construction and Community Development; Investigations and Government Operations; Judiciary; Racing, Gaming and Wagering; Rules; and Transportation.
