The Auburn Junior High School theater group will perform "Shrek the Musical."

The cast and crew, made up of 72 seventh- and eighth-graders, are guided by director Bill Tenity, musical director Kristan Sheppard, choreography director Heather McNeil, costume director Sally Reutlinger, stage director Jessica Parker, artistic/puppet director Dawn Jordan and a group of hard-working, hammer-swinging, buzz-sawing set-builders and needle-threading seamstress volunteers.

Based on the popular 2001 film, the musical follows Shrek and his sidekick Donkey as they seek to rescue the Princess Fiona in exchange for getting his swamp back.

Performances are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 9 and 10, and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 11, at the Auburn Junior High School auditorium, 191 Franklin St., Auburn. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors and students.
