This weeks Photographer's Journal is titled 'Real men play the harp.'
Chris Molloy, 46, is the first male harpist I've ever seen. I'm sure there are guys playing the harp somewhere else in the world but in this neck of the woods Malloy seems to be it.
I first notice Molloy at a wedding a few years back. He definitely stands out in a crowd because he's the only guy in a tuxedo plucking away at a cobalt blue harp. You can't miss him!
His musical skills are impressive playing popular tunes that most everyone knows. He makes Metalica sound like God's minstrels.
When not playing the harp Molloy works full time at a electronic medical records company in Auburn and part time as an investigator for the Cayuga County Coroner's office.
Molloy debunks the stereotype that it's an instrument for females only. He proudly professes, with laughter while pointing a finger at himself, that real men play the harp.
