An Auburn man is facing charges in connection with an overnight stabbing, the Auburn Police Department said.

Police said they responded to a call of a fight with a man falling through a window at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday at 3 Spring St. At the scene, they found a 22-year-old man living at that address had been stabbed twice in the stomach. He was taken by ambulance to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, where he was undergoing surgery.

Police arrested Marcus J. Gaffney, also of 3 Spring St., charging him with first-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is being held pending arraignment as of Sunday morning.

Police asked anyone with information on the case to call the APD at 253-3231 or lead investigator Chris McLoughlin at 255-4706. Calls can be anonymous.
