Byron M. Burkett, 37, of Auburn, was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident, state police said Friday.

The arrest stemmed from a hit-and-run vehicle collision on Feb. 7 at the intersection of routes 34 and 224 in Schuyler County, police said. While responding to a call for the accident, troopers pulled over Burkett's vehicle for speeding, and an investigation led to the additional charges.

Burkett is being held at Schuyler County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash bail or $5,000 property bond.
