Union representatives from the Auburn Police Department announced Wednesday their endorsement of Terry Cuddy and Debby McCormick in their bid to be re-elected to the Auburn City Council.

"In the midst of a heroin epidemic, it has never been more important to keep in communication with our police department," Cuddy said in a statement. "I am proud that we worked with the police to affirm Auburn's commitment to the Finger Lakes Drug Taskforce and look forward to continuing our work with them to combat this crisis."

"Reinstating the disbanded Emergency Response Team and supporting the invaluable School Resource Officer program are two of the accomplishments I've been most proud to be a part of," McCormick said in a statement. "Our police are an important partner in keeping Auburn moving forward."

Officers Joe Villano, Chris Major, John Breeze and Mike Roden acknowledged positive changes that have happened in the city over the past four years.

"These things don't happen on their own," the officers said in a statement. "They happen because we have dedicated leaders that care about the standard of living that Auburn provides for its residents."
