A benefit motorcycle ride last summer for retired Cayuga County Highway Department employee, motorcycle lover and cancer sufferer Jim Kirby Sr., of Port Byron, was a big success. Now that Jim has passed away, the ride will continue — this time with a different local beneficiary.

The Jim Kirby Sr. Memorial Ride will take place Saturday, Aug. 17, at Pirate's Landing Tavern & Grill, Route 38, Conquest. Registration begins at 9 a.m.; the ride begins at 11; and riders return for a party at 5 p.m.

Proceeds from the event will go to the family of Andrew O'Bryan, a young cancer survivor from Weedsport.

For more information, contact Bonnie Kirby at 224-6358.
