Law enforcement agencies are urging the public to be on the lookout for a Utica sex offender who has removed his GPS ankle bracelet and stopped reporting to his parole officer.

Ronald Cook, 66, was last seen in the Rome area at around 3 p.m. Wednesday. He was wearing a bright yellow windbreaker, according to Department of Corrections and Community Supervision spokesman Thomas Mailey.

By removing his ankle bracelet and failing to report to his parole officer, Mailey said Cook is in violation of his "strict and intensive supervision."

Cook is a white man with gray hair and hazel eyes. He is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 240 pounds.

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Cook is a Level 3 sex offender. He was convicted of first-degree rape in 1991. Records indicate he was sentenced to 150 months to 25 years in state prison. He was released from prison in 2012.

Mailey said Cook should be considered dangerous. If he is seen, the public is asked to alert law enforcement by calling 911.
