An Elbridge man was charged Thursday with driving while intoxicated after he drove his truck off a roadway in Brutus and rolled it to the side of the road, police said.

Stephen Ragan, 35, of Elbridge, was traveling east on Route 5 near Baker Road in Brutus around 2:25 a.m. Thursday when he apparently fell asleep, strayed from the road and rolled his truck over, police said.

Ragan was charged with three misdemeanors -- DWI, refusing a breath test and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, police said. He was also charged with a violation of failure to keep right.

He was arraigned in Town of Brutus Court and remanded to Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $500 cash or $1,000 bond. He is due back in court at 7 p.m. May 1.
