Two adults and two children were taken to Auburn Community Hospital Thursday after a Union Springs Central School District school bus and a pickup truck collided in Aurelius.

The accident occurred at 8:26 a.m. at Clark Street Road (Routes 5 and 20) and Cayuga Road, according to Cayuga County 911.

According to state police, the pickup truck, driven by Mitchell Butler, of Cayuga, was headed southeast on Clark Street Road and the school bus, transporting 15 students and driven by Cynthia Diab, of Union Springs, was stopped in the left-turn lane of Clark Street Road, facing northwest, waiting to turn onto Cayuga Road.

According to police, the pickup truck failed to keep right, crossed over hazard markings and struck the bus head-on. Butler was ticketed for failure to keep right and driving left of pavement markings.

The drivers of both vehicles and two students, a 7-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl, were taken to ACH with minor injuries, according to officials.
