A boil water advisory for the village of Union Springs and the town of Springport residents served by Water District 1 has been lifted, according to the Cayuga County Health Department.
A boil water notice had been in effect since Saturday, Oct. 14 due to a loss in water pressure during a line repair. When this decrease in pressure occurs, the likelihood of harmful microbes entering the drinking water increases, the health department said in a release on Wednesday.
Water samples taken within the past few days have confirmed no contamination in the water distribution system, and residents may resume drinking the water without boiling. Anyone with questions is asked to call the department at (315) 253-1560.
