An Auburn man is facing multiple criminal charges after he was accused of attacking and threatening a family member, the Auburn Police Department said.

Antonio Q. Pesante, 51, 35 LaFayette Place, Auburn, was charged Thursday with second-degree strangulation and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both class D felonies, and second-degree menacing and endangering the welfare of a child, both class A misdemeanors.

Polcie said the victim called at 11:36 a.m. about a domestic dispute in which Pesante choked her and threatened her with a folding knife. A 14-year-old child witnessed parts of the incident, police said.

Pesante was arraigned at Auburn City Court Friday morning and was remanded to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond. His next day in court is Oct. 31.
