A Wolcott man was arrested Monday for stealing someone's M&T Visa and using it to spend nearly $900 at Walmart in Auburn, the Auburn Police Department said.

David R. Jones Jr., 34, of Furnace Road, was initially taken into custody by New York State Police in Wolcott. Auburn Deputy Police Chief Roger Anthony said there was a warrant out for Jones' arrest after he made an $893.25 purchase with the stolen debit card in June.

Anthony said APD officers met state police in Port Byron at around 2:15 p.m. Monday and took over the case, transporting Jones back to Auburn where he was arraigned in city court. Jones was remanded to Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail.
