The Cayuga County Sheriff's Office arrested two Cato residents accused of stealing from one Victory home and attempting to burglarize two others.
Police said that Jessica R. Parker-Sharkey, 19, and Ryan J. Meseroll, 21, were arrested Tuesday evening at their Cato residence and charged with a string of burglary and suspicious-person calls reported by residents on Pople Road earlier that day.
Parker-Sharkey and Meseroll, both of 2539 E. Main St., were charged with second-degree burglary and second-degree attempted burglary, both felonies. Deputies said Meseroll was also charged with third-degree burglary and petit larceny, accusing him of burglarizing TC's Diner in the village of Cato last October.
Deputies said Meseroll was sent to Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
Soon after Parker-Sharkey was released from custody, a deputy observed the defendant driving on Route 34 in the village of Cato and pulled her over after she allegedly failed to use a turn signal. Parker-Sharkey was once again arrested and charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, as well as failure to signal a turn.
According to deputies, Parker-Sharkey was then sent to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $500 bail.
Deputies are also investigating a series and burglaries and larcenies reported in the town of Ira between Jan. 20 and Jan. 21, but do not know if the incidents are related.
