WEEDSPORT | Passion for their school, their family and the community that they will always call home is what has inspired the Weedsport High School graduating class to give their all.
“This class has and will excel in everything that they do,” high school Principal Carolyn Widrick said during the 2013 Weedsport High School graduation, held on the front lawn of the school Friday evening. “There are no limits for these students because individually and collectively they believe there are no limits. This school, the students, their parents and the community are the absolute best.”
As the traditional bagpipe song pomp and circumstance played in the background the 52-student class led the processional dress in their school colors of white and green into their future.
But staying close to their roots as they took the next step was a sentiment shared by all.
“As we go into our future we will always remember that these are our roots and this is where it all started,” said class Valedictorian Bethany Brown. “I wouldn’t have wanted to have been anywhere else."
No matter what they do or what successes lie in their future having found themselves during the course of their high school years will always be a part of who they are.
“You are not here to fill a space or to be a background in someone else’s movie,” Class President and Salutatorian Elizabeth Chirco told her classmates. “Go out into the world and explore, dream and discover. Our success is outstanding and our enthusiasm will never waver. We are capable of so much. Once we decided what we wanted there was no stopping us. Never lose who you are. Go and share your great self with the world. And when you look back someday from your deathbed you will know that the world truly was a better place because you were here. And that is pretty cool."
