    You're absolutely correct, Peter.

Unfortunately, we just can't get the right people to listen and do the right thing here.

Although you give them ALL the correct FACTS here...they have their own facts and agenda.

If these 'artsy and craftsie' people are serious about this musical festival, then Schines would be a fantastic additional attraction for this venue.

For the life of me, I don't know why these people have dug in their heels on the Kalet building with only 384 seats whereas they can get 3 times as many via the Schines.

This increase in 3 times the seats could add different attractions such as big name comedians, singers, etc. that would fill all these additional seats and bring additional tourist dollars to the Auburn area.

And they know this but refuse to reconsider. And that is truly unfortunate...both for the Schines and for Auburn.

Not good. Not good at all!

At last a voice of reason is heard. The Schine building is sound and quite repairable. Most of the damage inside and out is cosmetic. The venue is much more versatile than that a small theater and can host national acts. The Schine as a multi use convention center can attract all kinds of events. A historic building also attracts the history seeking sector that is a major part of tourism.
We have a world famous theater in our town that has been almost forgotten over the last 8 years. It’s time to get responsible people on board to finish what this community & state has already committed itself to and not to go off in a totally different direction. The State & Federal tax dollars that have already funded the Schine’s restoration are only wasted if the project is never finished. The building is protected on a State and National level and here to stay. The Schine Theater cannot be torn down or drastically altered.
The City spent a tidy sum on stabilizing the Kalet Building. Why would we now want to waste that money by tearing the structure down? Let’s try repairing it and making it into something new and useful. A business that compliments the Schine and downtown and does not compete with it would be a good solution. The Schine’s rebirth will also create a need for another parking garage and a hotel. So stop listening to those who are spreading rumors because they are competing for the funds and take a good look at reason. Let’s finish what we have already started Auburn and turn the page.
