It is difficult to believe Mitt Romney is really interested in the presidency of the United States. While Governor Romney holds the office of the president and President Obama with such disrespect!

What I witnessed in Tuesday’s debate was Mr. Romney’s total disregard for the office of the president of the United States! Romney’s rudeness in interrupting and speaking over the top of the president and bordering on shouting down President Obama, lacked manors, civility or decorum but could not even be stopped by the moderator. The first debate I witnessed a sneering, disrespectful, half-smile on Mitt Romney’s face, in every split-screen or two shot!

I respect President Obama’s perseverance in spite of the Do Nothing Congress! With lunatic fringe tea party Republicans bent on making him a one term president even to the detriment of the U.S. economy and America's workers!

With such loathing and disrespect (of the loyal opposition Democrats) of the presidency, how can Romney hope to earn our respect? This disrespect for government and the loyal opposition is a symptom of the illness which plagues the Republican Party in today’s society, the tea party virus!

Former Governor Romney’s resume is kind of lightweight if you ask me.

– Mitt Romney’s one term as governor of Massachusetts: He temporarily lived there, but is truly a resident of Salt Lake City, or is it San Diego? Although his bank accounts in the Grand Cayman Islands and Switzerland may be where his true heart lies!

- Mitt Romney ran the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, where else? a political patronage, bring home the bacon, pork-barrel job! Who actually watches the Winter Olympics?

- Mitt Romney was on the board of Staples. He claims to be a job creator. Staples like most retailers, consists of a majority of part-time employment, with the exception of management, low pay with no benefits or affordable health care! Hardly a middle class job creator, more a working poor job creator!

- Mitt Romney claims that his role at Bain Capitol, as an investment firm was a capitalist engine of growth in small business. Tell that to the working (middle class) Men and Women who relied on these outsourced jobs to support their families! Mitt Romney outsourced their jobs to Communist China in order to maximize profits for shareholders!

You are such a joke. Not one demoncrat has ever done anything good for this country. Liberal pukes like you caused the degeneration of this country. You are just sad because BHO is a complete idiot and can't fight for himself. He needs that other piggy from CNN to help him out even though she said Romney was right. BHO is the leader of the American Bolshevik revolution. You would be glad if all of us "Right Wingers" were just killed off so you can have the supreme mother land. Guess what, Communism kills all.

"Piggy", eh? Well, it sounds like we have a familiar letter-writing fool here with a new name?

Your post clearly shows how irrational a person can be when inculcated with misinformation and bogus ideology. Democrats have time and time again rescued this country from the follies and disasters of Republican loser-presidents. In just recent history, It took Clinton to undo the disaster of Reagan-Bush, and now Barack has had to painfully undo the carnage that Bush W hath wrought.

You were right about at least one thing in your comment though--I"ll leave you to figure that one out.

Well Jeffery, you must understand that Obama actually interrupted Romney more times than Romney interrupted the President. It WAS a debate by 2 candidates. Obama again had more talk time. Romney's qualifications, I know, can't hold a candle to Obama's when he took office, Romney was not a community organizer. And as Chris Matthews put it, Romney doesn't know the Constitution, you can't tell the President "you'll get your turn". But if you meant it to be humor, it was good.

liberal karl
liberal karl

Obama HAD to interrupt Romney, to stop the flow of incessant lies and prevarications. It was as simple as that. And the first debate? Forget it; Romney showed he had no respect for either the President, the moderator---or the American people, with all the lying he did.

movedsouth
movedsouth

You may not understand this, but they BOTH made false and misleading statements. Both candidates were respectful to the audience, but disrespectful to each other and somewhat to the moderator. Crowley allowed more time to Obama and refused Romney one rebuttal. She also incorrectly backed Obama's claim of calling the Lybia attack terrorist attack the next morning. Altho she did correct and say that Romney WAS correct.

liberal karl
liberal karl

HA HA. You're demonstrably WRONG. CNN fact-checked it here: http://edition.cnn.com/2012/10/17/politics/fact-check-terror/index.html

A day after the attack, Obama said:

""Our country is only as strong as the character of our people and the service of those both civilian and military who represent us around the globe," he said. "No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for. Today we mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America...."

The conclusion: Romney's precise comment was false. Obama did describe the killings in Benghazi as an act of terror twice in the two days after the attack. In an interview two weeks after the incident, though, he appeared to reserve judgment, and some Obama administration officials, including Carney and Rice, suggested in the days after the attack that the United States had no indication that it was a planned assault.

really... how about turning the presidency into "hollywood" how many former prez's appeared on letterman or the view. ? how many former prez's BOWED TO A FOREIGN LEADER? and as moved south said, more interruptions were done by the prez, and the moderator even helped him by refuting romney with a LIE !!! if anyone has dissed the presidency its your boy obama.

liberal karl

Unbelievable, honestly, the ignorance in your posting. Obama bowed to a foreign leader out of RESPECT. The willingness to show respect and humility is a sign of strength, and was a signal that the days of arrogant "cowboy diplomacy" (as exhibited by Bush) were over. It was a commendable and honorable thing that he did. I would have done it myself, to have acknowledged a king.

Romney showed himself to be an (surprise?--NOT!) ill-mannered jerk, desperate, and obviously following orders not to let Obama get in the facts, contrary to Romney's manifold lies.

And I think it's great that Obama goes on TV. He's smart, affable, and a great conversationalist. Were it but that anyone on the Right were so, you'd be urging them on too.

A sign of weakness? See Osama Bin Laden. See Al Queda leaders dead by the dozens. See terrorist plots foiled the world over.

I'll bet you went all "yee HAW" on Bush's arrogant, bumbling way for the the Saudi Kin--oh wait--that's right; HE HELD HIS HAND AND KISSED the Saudi King!! HA HA HA HAHAHAHAHAH!!!

Your enthusiasm and support for AL Queda is noted for the record, onewhoDOESNOTknow.

Shameful that you would call yourself a patriot.

By the way, you must not have got the memo--yes, the head of Al Queda dead, and dozens or next-in-line lieutenants and heads of that organization, killed and GONE.

Hangers on and claimants using the name? There will always be them, like the Skinheads of today. But AL Queda as the threat it was? Yes, definitely diminished. Even in spite of its cheerleaders like you.

Gee, such vicious, hateful comments from the 'Christians' on the right!

We ALL know that Romney wants the Presidency so he can give MORE tax cuts to his rich friends and start a war with Iran so he'll be seen as a 'Mormon Cowboy'; a Tough Guy. He doesn't know the first thing about CREATING jobs; all he knows is how to make BIG MONEY for himself and his fellow investors.

If Bush's tax cuts were so Wonderful, so Terrific in creating US Jobs, then WHERE ARE THE JOBS? Look, people are NOT stupid. They know this 'tax cuts for the job creators' is a bunch of bs and jobs will NOT be created using this system. The only thing Bush's tax cuts have done is made the top 1% DOUBLE their total wealth. It's THEIR turn now, to pay what they FAIRLY OWE. If they don't want to, then they are 'Free' to move to another country, like where they outsourced US jobs in China.

The ONLY way to create US Jobs is for the middle class and working poor to make enough money then SPEND that money daily.

movedsouth

"The ONLY way to create US Jobs is for the middle class and working poor to make enough money then SPEND that money daily."

Tax cuts for the middle class were supposed to encourage spending and create a strong economy. WHERE is the strong economy? OK the Bush tax cuts failed, now it's time to let them expire. Middle class taxes will go up an average of $2500, so what? They did not continue to spend and grow the economy, where's the jobs, where's the strong economy? The Bush tax cuts failed.

former resident of Auburn

movedsouth: President Obama wants to KEEP the tax cuts for the middle class and working poor. He doesn't want to continue the Capital Gains tax cut, the Interest Earnings tax cut, he wants to raise the Estate tax cut and stop the lessening of deductions and exemptions for the top 1%.

Haven't the top 1% gotten enough? What with Bush's tax cuts AND the other tax cuts that most of the rest of us can't qualify for, the top 1% have DOUBLED their total wealth in the past 11+ years, and no matter what they say NONE of them pay 35% on corporate taxes---that's just a figure on a piece of paper.

Why shouldn't WE the 99% continue to get tax cuts? If the top 1% don't like it, they have MORE than enough money to move. They are like spoiled rotten children who don't want to give up the candy shop that they've been visiting every day. I blame W. Bush for that. He made sure they had tax cuts that favored them and he did NOTHING to penalize them for moving US Jobs overseas for cheap labor.

Tom
Tom

The problem was that those of the middle class and working poor who didn't have their jobs "outsourced" by the likes of Romney had their tax cuts eaten up by increased fuel costs (which also caused increases in everything else).
But the good news is "Big Oil" is heading for another record year.

How about the likes of Jeffrey Immelt, Obama's buddy? Keystone pipeline and drill baby drill. Obama said that gas was $1.86 when he took office because the economy was in free fall, shouldn't we be paying $2 now? All corporate welfare should be eliminated, but you'll have to convince both sides.

MS: You REALLY need to get over your mistaken belief that Obama and Immelt are "buds".
Immelt is and always has been a far right Republican. Obama appointed him out of his stupid belief that including Repubs would somehow make the world a rosy, bipartisan place (how could the Right complain about his policies when "one of them" is helping formulate them).
When you complain about Immelt and his shipping of jobs overseas and his abuse of "Corporate Welfare", you're really complaining about the "Right" as he is, and always has been, a staunch supporter of "Rightwing" views. His views are very similar to those of Romney, so if you don't like or approve of Immelt, you shouldn't be a Romney supporter.

Gas prices being up is a "no-brainer". The oil market is manipulated by "Big Oil", who have a vested interest in keeping the economy in turmoil with an eye towards defeating Obama and further pushing the country to the Right.
"Drill baby, drill" was, and still is, the most moronic thing I've ever heard.
Energy independence through more oil production in the US is a myth. One more time. America DOESN'T OWN THE OIL.
Oil companies sell to the highest bidder and as long as developing countries are increasing their demand and are willing to pay, that's where the oil will go.

Now if you want to couple increased domestic production with a mandated percentage sale of the oil to domestic outlets at a fixed price or a government takeover of the oil industry so the American people truly OWN the oil, then yes, we can achieve independence through increased production. I don't think that will fly in the US, though.

movedsouth
movedsouth

Turmoil in the Mideast, the price goes up, more production, the price goes down. Yes, something would/should be done to keep it here. If we have a better supply here, the price will go down, supply and demand.

Tom
Tom

Bullpucky. There's always turmoil in the Mideast.
We invaded 2 Mideast countries and didn't see the spikes that we have seen since Obama took office. Every bit of good economic news is followed by a spike in oil prices. Since Republican policies favor "Big Oil", I wonder why that is??? It's a mystery.

A better supply here means NOTHING. ONE MORE TIME!!! WE DON'T OWN THE OIL!!!! THE OIL COMPANIES OWN THE OIL!!!
As long as developing nations are increasing their demand for oil, the best you will do is further enrich the oil companies as they sell it to those countries at the higher prices. If there is more supply, the price may stabilize temporarily but the demand will increase by the developing nations, resulting in another round of increases in price.
At least now I know why Repubs want to get rid of the Department of Education.
They want everyone to be as lousy at economics and math as they are.

liberal karl

Tom, thank you for articulating what I have been saying for YEARS now---Big Business AND Big Oil have a vested interest in defeating Obama--their own potential future profits--, and therefore have NO interest in either !: creating jobs, or B: lowering the price oil.

These scumbags are all about themselves--they have no interest in helping the nation, or the average working man.

And your explanation of the way oil sales works with regards to being a commodity is RIGHT ON. It's amazing--and frightening--that the average Right Winger doesn't know this fact, and is taken in by the stupid sloganeering!!

movedsouth

" Every bit of good economic news is followed by a spike in oil prices." So this is why the gas prices have been so high, SO LONG?

" Since Republican policies favor "Big Oil", I wonder why that is??? "
And YOU really believe it's just the GOP?

" If there is more supply, the price may stabilize temporarily but the demand will increase by the developing nations, resulting in another round of increases in price. "

NOTHING more than rationalization.

OPEC influences prices by adjusting supply of crude, refineries, we need more. Regulation, TOO MANY different blends for location.

Tom
Tom

Your last about OPEC is what I'm talking about.
Let's say we double our production of oil. What do you think OPEC will do if prices start to drop because of it? Answer is they will cut their production to keep the prices up.
World demand won't drop and because that doubled production doesn't belong to us, it gets sold on the world market.

If the GOP gets their way and reduces the Corporate tax rates, the US doesn't even get more tax money on their increased profits.
The benefit to the country and the average citizen is near zilch.

"While crude oil products such as gasoline and diesel can be exported from the United States, the Mineral Leasing Act of 1920 and the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act requires a presidential waiver for the sale of most unrefined crude oil abroad, essentially blocking exports."

I can't see that increasing our production would hurt.

http://finance.fortune.cnn.com/2012/04/11/oil-trading/

http://money.msn.com/ways-to-invest/why-the-us-is-sending-oil-overseas-jubak.aspx

They don't HAVE to export crude.
You're looking at oil prices as though the oil is a physical entity instead of as a commodity. It's all a paper shuffle. Not a single drop of crude has to pass our shores.
Try to understand this. We produce more so we don't have to buy that extra amount from overseas. The price DOES NOT GO DOWN. It's a COMMODITY. The PRICE is driven by the total WORLD physical supply and by SPECULATION of FUTURE WORLD supply.
And also, do you honestly think the Repubs are going to tell their "big oil" buddies they can't make huge profits by diverting oil pumped in the US to foreign markets? Can you honestly say they won't get around it by refining more and selling THAT?
