SKANEATELES — Florence Lee (Fiedler) Wiley passed peacefully, after a long and beautiful life, on March 9, 2018 at the age of 95, at Auburn Community Hospital.
Born on April 5, 1922 to Clayton and Velda Fiedler in Jersey Shore, Pa., she was a Skaneateles area resident most of her life.
On Jan. 2, 1943, Florence married Army Major Charles Albert Wiley, to whom she remained married until his passing on June 22, 2015. “Fe” graduated from Skaneateles Central High School in 1942. Throughout her life she enjoyed archery, bowling, camping, tennis, and volunteering on behalf of the Skaneateles Methodist Church and Meals on Wheels. Everyone “Fe” met became her good friend.
Florence is survived by a daughter, Carol Riels and her husband, Ollie, of Spring City, Tenn.; a son, Joseph Wiley and his wife, Sherry, of Mottville, N.Y.; and a daughter, Janice Wentworth and her husband, Dale, of North Brookfield, Mass. She is also survived by her sisters, Ann Simmons, of Skaneateles, and Ina Nolan, of Auburn. Florence has four grandsons, Kent Koehn, of Columbia, S.C., Chris Koehn (deceased), Kelly Wiley and his wife, Karen, of Onondaga, N.Y., and Peter Wiley, of Mottville, N.Y. Florence also has four great-grandchildren, Anaise, Taylor Ann, Kip, and Jimmy; one great-great-grandson, Max; several nieces and a nephew. She will be greatly missed by Scott Hauver and Nancy Hauver Morris whom were like grandchildren to her that she cared for many years while their parents, Pete and Barb Hauver, taught at Skaneateles High School.
Services are private. Florence will be buried in Lake View Cemetery, Skaneateles.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to SAVES or the Skaneateles Fire Department.
