AUBURN | Josephine T. (House) Deyo, of Rockefeller Road, Auburn, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at University Hospital, following a brief illness.
Josephine was born in Auburn, the daughter of the late Edward L. and Josephine T. Murray Hayes. She was a graduate of Holy Family High School and CCBI. Josephine was employed at Auburn Memorial Hospital before working as a medical administrative assistant in the Neurosurgery Department of SUNY Upstate Medical University, where she worked up until four weeks prior to her death.
Josephine is survived by her beloved husband of 26 years, Robert Deyo; her devoted children, Peter G. House and his partner, Michael Hannen, Joan E. House, and Kathryn Colella and her fiancé, Michael Hutchings; her stepchildren, Robert Deyo III (Marcia Buckley), Carole Ann Potter, and John E. Deyo (Kevin Burke); her grandchildren, whom she cherished, Stephen A. Colella Jr. (Sabrina Martin), Melissa M. Cartner, Kristen Jo Cartner, and John H. Greene; several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
She was predeceased by her first husband, George H. House; her daughter, Janet Elizabeth House; sister, Jean M. Staehr, and step-daughter, Jacqueline Roberts. She also leaves behind her beloved cats, Tippy and Tyler.
A memorial service celebrating Josephine’s life will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Willard Chapel. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Fleming, at the convenience of the family. Friends and relatives may visit with her family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South St., Auburn.
