GROTON — Lucinda C. Volbrecht, (Cindy), 59, of Groton, passed away peacefully at home on March 2, 2018.
Born Dec. 6, 1958 in Auburn, she was the daughter of Richard and Barbara (Kellogg) Carter, of Scipio, who survive her.
Cindy was a graduate of Southern Cayuga Central School (class of 1977), and had been employed for 26 years at the King’s Den in Cortland. She was a self-employed hair stylist and had owned Cindy’s Barber & Beauty Shop in Groton since 2011. Cindy supported the Groton Youth Baseball League and was a motorcycle enthusiast.
In addition to her parents, Cindy is survived by her husband of 19 years, Chuck Volbrecht; her children, Joshua Saville (LaCosta), of Scipio Center, Shawna Saville (Tom Perreault), of Venice Center, and Doree Priest, of Groton; nine grandchildren, Maddie, Aiden, Lia, Owen, Allison, Jeremiah, Nathan, Thomas, and Joseph; siblings, Roberta Feocco, of Scipioville, Darrell Carter (Sandy), and Kimberly Carter, both of Scipio Center, and Connie Tyrrell (the late Dana Tyrrell), of Genoa; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at the Shurtleff Funeral Home, 103 Lincoln Ave., Groton, with the Rev. Sam Neno officiating. Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, prior to the service. A celebration of life will follow services at “the garage,” 201 Chipman Corners Road, Groton.
