AUBURN — Stephen Rusin Sr., 80, of Walnut Street, Auburn, passed away Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse. The son of the late John Rusin Sr. and Mary Jurballa Rusin, Stephen was born in Auburn on July 4, 1937.
He proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1958. He retired from the former ALCO of Auburn where he had worked as an electrician. He enjoyed both camping and fishing and was a member of the American Legion and the Korean War Veterans Association.
Stephen is survived by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn Switzer Rusin; his two daughters, Barbara (Arthur) Rusin Scheuermann, of Delmar and Mary (Joe) Rusin Raymond, of Auburn; two sons, Stephen Rusin Jr., of Auburn, and William (Tracy) Rusin, of Spring Hill, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Alexander and Clayton Scheuermann, Nicholas Raymond and Jacklyn Rusin, and a great-grandson, Maddox Raymond; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Rusin was predeceased by his grandson, Joseph Raymond, an infant sister Mary Jane, and four brothers, George, John, Nicholas, and his twin brother Michael Rusin Sr. Funeral services with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6 at Auburn United Methodist Church, 99 South St., Auburn. Burial will be in Soule Cemetery, Sennett. Friends are invited to call on the family from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5 at White Chapel Funeral Home, 197 South St., Auburn.
