During my campaign for Auburn City Council, I repeatedly talked about the importance of prioritizing city projects and separating the needs from the wants. It was brought up in the debates that this city council does in fact look at every issue to determine needs from wants. I’m wondering how the council determined that a nature trail and starting work on the visitor’s center was a priority and a need over the repair of our city streets. Not one street in the city of Auburn is safe to drive on because of massive, car-jolting holes. It’s only a matter of time before we have accidents because people pay more attention to avoiding pot holes than they do to oncoming traffic or pedestrians. Seems to me that the wants of the sitting government officials in Auburn has preceded the needs of its citizens.
