It is unfortunate that Owasco has decided to price itself out of the recycling business. The recent high fees added to recycled items at the "recycling" center on Route 38A have made it uneconomical to recycle cans, bottles paper, etc. instead of simply throwing them into the trash dumpster, along with non-recyclable items, at a much cheaper price, as we will now do. Perhaps the town leaders will wake up to their folly when they discover that other residents are also diverting all of their discards into the trash, grossly increasing disposal quantity and costs and nullifying any gains imagined from the recycling fees.
