PAWTUCKET | It took 20 games, but someone finally kept Eury Perez out of the hit column.
The Triple-A rookie went 0-for-3, breaking a 19-game hit streak, but did still come around to score twice and stole two more bases as the Syracuse Chiefs took the second of two from the Pawtucket Red Sox, 6-3, on Thursday.
In his first 20 games in Syracuse this season Perez has 11 steals and is hitting .350 while scoring 15 runs.
For the second-straight day, Syracuse was led from the mound as Jeff Mandel (3-4) gave up two runs and four hits in seven innings of work. He struck out four and walked a pair.
The Chiefs picked up a five-run rally in the top of the third, but none of the scores against Pawtucket starter Billy Buckner were earned.
Mauro Gomez homered for the second-straight day for the Red Sox with a solo shot off of Mandel in the third.
